Do you only train women, men, or both? If only women, why?
I only train women. I wanted to offer a space catered to women only. If you go to a commercial gym, every WOMEN ONLY section is small with very limited equipment, which is completely unfair in my opinion... I was motivated to build a space for women to feel their most confident and comfortable, wear what they would like, and train the way a man would train (even better than a man) without having to be stared at. This is how Fitlab was born. I had a vision, dedicated to women to empower them and help reach their full potential.
What challenges do you face as a trainer?
I have yet to struggle with a client and their goals, how to work around past and current injuries, myths about diet and eating after a certain time. I can tackle those with my eyes closed. The biggest challenge is commitment from NEW clients. I can help you reach your goals, I will provide you with an endless amount of knowledge, I will teach you everything from proper form to the whys, the do's and the don'ts, but I cannot show up for you. You have to show up and do the work, just like anything else in life. You want it, you work for it!
What is your process as a trainer to make your clients not only look their best, but feel their best?
The relationship between a personal trainer and client is such an intimate one. My clients come to me with specific goals, in their most vulnerable states, putting all their trust and confidence in me. I dedicate my time to them, 60 mins dedicated to one specific client. We will talk about their day, how they're feeling, what their energy is like, any stressors, play the music they want to listen to, all that while they are warming up and mobilizing. I am there for my clients to answer all questions they have, not just about fitness but lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, daily habits, etc. At the end of each session, my clients leave feeling stronger, not only physically, but also mentally.
